Upgrading our Bailey Unicorn S3 Vigo Caravan to Coachman Laser Xcel 875
Share
Discover why we made the surprising decision to upgrade from the Bailey Unicorn S3 Vigo to the Coachman Laser Xcel 875, and how it has improved our caravanning experience.
The initial attraction to the Bailey Unicorn S3 Vigo
When we first purchased our Bailey Unicorn S3 Vigo caravan, we were thrilled. It was the perfect first-step on the caravan ownership ladder for us. The compact size and cozy interior made it a comfortable space for our adventures. We enjoyed every moment spent in it, exploring new destinations and creating memories. It quickly became a cherished part of our lives.
However, as time went on, we began to realise that the size of the caravan was limiting. Being 6'6 tall, I found myself feeling cramped and restricted in the compact space. It became clear that we needed a more spacious caravan to accommodate my physical size and enhance our overall caravanning experience.
Realizing the need for a more spacious caravan
The realisation that we needed a more spacious caravan struck us during one of our trips. As I struggled to move around comfortably and found it challenging to relax and unwind, we knew it was time for a change. We wanted a caravan that would provide ample headroom and space for us to move freely. After some research and discussions, we concluded that an 8ft wide caravan would be the ideal solution for us.
Although it was a difficult decision to let go of our beloved Bailey Unicorn S3 Vigo after just 6 months of ownership, we knew that upgrading to a larger caravan was necessary to address our physical size requirements and enhance our overall caravanning experience.

Exploring features of the Coachman Laser Xcel 875
Once we made the decision to upgrade, we started exploring different options in the market. We really loved the layout of our Bailey Unicorn Vigo caravan, so when we came across the Coachman Laser Xcel 875 that is a very similar layout we immediately fell in love with it. The spaciousness of the Coachman caravan was impressive, offering us the headroom and living space we wanted. It had all the features and amenities that our Bailey had provided it was just a little bit wider and a little bit longer, making it an ideal choice for our future adventures.
The Coachman Laser Xcel 875 has a well-designed layout that maximised the available space. It features a comfortable seating area, a fully-equipped kitchen, a luxurious end-bath bathroom, and a cozy bedroom with transverse bed. It also has twin axles with motor movers and a feature we didn't really discover until after we had bought it, an E+P Automatic Levelling system.
Making the decision to upgrade
The decision to upgrade from our Bailey Unicorn S3 Vigo to the Coachman Laser Xcel 875 was not an easy one. We had grown attached to our Bailey caravan and had many fond memories associated with it. In the six months of ownership we had been away in it five times and loved it.
After careful consideration and weighing the pros and cons, we finally made the decision to upgrade.

Excellent Handover from Taylor's Tourers
We part-exchanged our Bailey Unicorn Vigo against the purchase of our new Coachman caravan from the dealer we had originally purchase it from, Taylor's Tourers in Stamford.
Scott at Taylor's provided us with an incredibly generous offer for our Bailey caravan when we decided to upgrade to the Coachman. Not only that, but he went above and beyond by including several extra features in the purchase of our new Coachman caravan to sweeten the deal. Within just a few days, he had even arranged for the installation of a solar panel connected to the leisure battery and a Scorpion Tracker.
When we arrived at Taylor's to collect our new Coachman caravan and say goodbye to our beloved Bailey, we couldn't help but feel a sense of sadness mixed with excitement. Saying farewell to our old caravan was bittersweet, but the anticipation of embarking on new adventures with the Coachman made it all worthwhile.
During the handover process, Scott was incredibly attentive. He took the time to thoroughly explain and explore all of the fantastic features of our new Coachman caravan. As I drove away, filled with admiration for Scott and his caravan business, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the exceptional service we had received.
The exceptional service and attention to detail provided by Scott at Taylor's truly made the entire experience seamless and enjoyable. It's reassuring to know that there are companies like his who go above and beyond to ensure their customers have the best possible caravanning experience.
